Tyson Fury’s promoter, George Warren, has confirmed that a ‘formal offer’ has been made to Anthony Joshua for a heavyweight fight this September.

The British pair have long been linked with a huge scrap, most recently in December when it seemed it was close but fell apart.

With neither having confirmed their next fights and both wanting to box in the coming months, the prospect of the Gypsy King vs AJ has once again been raised, thanks to Fury’s camp.

The WBC heavyweight champion wrote on Instagram: ‘A few days ago I sent a draft contract to Anthony Joshua for a fight in September at Wembley Stadium.

‘It is a fight that everyone wants to see including myself. Come on AJ let’s give the world what they want to see.

‘This time I’m not going to make a million vids and keep putting pressure on. The ball is now on your side.’

Fury’s social media claims are not always the most reliable, but Warren has confirmed that an offer has been made, which is the same as in December, handing a 60-40 split to the champion and 50-50 in a possible rematch if Joshua were to win the first match.

In a statement through Queensbury PromotionsGeorge Warren said: ‘Spoke with Tyson on Monday, obviously on the back of knowing that Usyk vs Wilder was going to be happening and we were preparing a bid.

‘The question was put to us; what fights are out there, what are the biggest fights we can make?

‘AJ’s name came up in that conversation of course it would, it’s a huge fight. And the instructions were clear – go and try and make that fight.

‘The following morning we put an email over to Eddie [Hearn]. Made a formal offer, same terms as for December. So exactly the same terms as far as we’re concerned.

“We’re ready to go, Tyson wants it to happen, so do we and I hope they do too.”

The mentioned fight between Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder has not been confirmed, in fact it was thought that Usyk would fight Daniel Dubois next, with the Ukrainians promoter Alex Krassyuk stating that they have won purse bids to stage the fight in August in Poland.

“We won the bid, now working to stage the fight in Wroclaw, Poland on August 12th,” Krassyuk said on Instagram.

Wilder has tried to taunt the WBA, WBO and IBF champs into a fight, though, telling ES News: ‘I’m all for it, but he’s [Usyk] a little afraid. Actually, he’s a lot afraid. I’m in the business, so I know a lot of things.

‘I’m ready to go any given moment in time and place, no matter what it is. they know that.

‘I don’t put up too much fight in terms of trying to get a fight done, I’m simple. I feel like we can all eat, and that’s how it should be. But they don’t make ’em like me, I’m very rare!’
