Waitrose to open the first Aberdeen store this summer

Waitrose is to open a food hall in Aberdeen this summer, ending years of a wait for the giant supermarket to arrive in the Granite City. The partnership between Dobbies, on the city’s Lang Stracht and the luxury chain means around 2,000 products will be available across the store. It is expected to open in June with work on-going at the moment to get it ready for unveiling. The food hall is currently stocked with Sainsbury’s products. Cyprus to toughen policing around fan violence at sports events

NICOSIA, Cyprus – Cyprus’ justice minister on Wednesday unveiled a host of measures to combat fan violence at sporting events, including pre-game drug and alcohol tests, increased body searches and tougher policing. The measures come days after opposing fans in a basketball playoff game between rivals Anorthosis and Apollon fought inside and outside the Tassos Papadopoulos stadium in the capital Nicosia, setting fire to public transport offices outside the venue. 22-year average time to fix bridges in Scotland

New analysis has revealed that it takes on average 22 years to fix a bridge in Scotland, with many crumbling in the Highlands. Major upgrades are needed for 35 vital crossings (“substandard bridges”), however, research has shown that some communities are waiting years – sometimes decades – for crucial changes to be made. The report reveals that Argyll and Bute Council noticed the Connel Bridge that crosses from Loch Etive to Connel near Oban required work in 2016, however, it will not be signed off until 2024. To date, 110 individuals and six teams have been inducted into the hall, their plaques proudly on display in the Dr. RL Vaughan Atrium at the Quinte Sport and Wellness Centre.
