Belleville Sports Hall of Fame Call for Nominations

Nominations are now open for the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame (BSHoF). To date, 110 individuals and six teams have been inducted into the hall, their plaques proudly on display in the Dr. RL Vaughan Atrium at the Quinte Sport and Wellness Centre. BSHoF Committee Chair Ian Press says submissions are being accepted in the categories of Athletes, Builders and Teams. Those who were born or lived in the Belleville area and have brought sporting honor to the community on the regional, national or international stage may be eligible. Residents of Keith asked how the town could improve active travel

Keith residents are being asked to help Moray Council come up with ideas on how to improve active travel in the city. The authority’s active travel team is looking for ideas from the local community on how to spend £25,000 on cycle parking, cycle shelters and repair stations in and around the town. Locals have until 12pm on Friday, April 28 to submit ideas for the types of bicycle stands, cycle shelters and repair stations the community would like to see. The 2023 National Wheelchair Curling Championships kicked off on Monday afternoon at the Moose Jaw Curling Center with all 12 teams getting into action. Both Saskatchewan teams finished the day 1-1. Moose Jaw’s Marie Wright and Saskatchewan 1 started the day with an 8-7 loss to Northern Ontario and then came back on Monday night and beat Alberta 17-1. Glenelg Ferry bosses launch petition against SSEN pylon plans

Operators of the world’s last remaining turntable ferry have launched a petition over fears plans for new pylons would have a “catastrophic effect” on its future. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has outlined plans to install 15 new super pylons near Kyler Rhea in the south of Skye.
