It all gets going on Friday for the Moose Jaw Warriors, as they embark on the 2023 Western Hockey League Playoffs. Their first-round opponent was the Lethbridge Hurricanes, who the Warriors had success against in the regular season with a 3-1 record. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Hangar on Friday and Saturday and Country 100 is the place to catch all the action.

It was a packed gymnasium at Vanier Collegiate on Tuesday morning, as students, teachers, parents, and coaches showed their support for their senior girls’ basketball squad for their recent provincial championship victory.

Grade 11 point guard, Kate Waldenberger says the assembly was heartwarming.

“You go and accomplish something for your school and, because we’re a smaller school, it’s like a community and you’re bringing the trophy back to a family that you all get to share with each other.”

Grade 10 winger, Waverley Demassi explained the feeling of winning provincials

“The fans played a huge part in it too, because having our teachers come out brought up the energy for us. We knew in the last five minutes and it was a surreal feeling that all our hard work paid off in the end.”

The senior Spirits took down Lumsden 74-50 in the finals on Saturday to capture their first title since 2010

It’s do-or-die for the Moose Jaw U13 A Carpet One Mavericks #2 in their league final on Wednesday. They are down 1-0 in their best-of-three series to the Parkland Fire but return home on Wednesday night for Game 2, which starts at 7:45 pm at the Bert Hunt Arena.

A big congratulations to the U11 at Mc Red Devils, who were able to capture the U11 B League championship on Tuesday.
