Pedestrians killed by motor sport in Jatinegara

Jakarta (ANTARA) – A motorcyclist killed a pedestrian with the initials GAW (74), a resident of Jalan Tanjung Lengkong, Bidara Cina, on Jalan Otista Raya, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, on Monday at around 11.30 WIB.

East Jakarta Traffic Traffic Accident Unit (Laka) member Aiptu Muhammad Ali in Jakarta said GAW died after being hit by a Kawasaki motorcycle with plate B 5009 TYX while crossing.

“The victim was crossing the road from west to east. For motorbikes, they went from PGC to Kampung Melayu,” said Ali.

Ali added that the victim was seriously injured due to the severity of the collision and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the sport motorbike driver was injured as a result of falling after crashing into GAW.

Ali said GAW’s body was now being taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) for an autopsy process for further investigation and the case was being handled by the East Jakarta Traffic Unit.

“The motorbike driver was taken to Premier Hospital. We don’t know yet whether the motorbike driver was traveling fast or not. Maybe the traffic at the time of the incident was rather smooth,” said Ali.

Furthermore, he said that his party was still waiting for the motor sport driver’s condition to improve so he could be questioned regarding the chronology of the accident.

Meanwhile, the driver’s sports motorbike has also been secured as evidence at the East Jakarta Traffic Unit Laka Unit office for investigation purposes.

“Later we will ask for information about the driver,” said Ali.
